Free hand knitting pattern: Finger puppet by Leanne Dyck

A knitter's request has encouraged me to share this hand knitting pattern... 
This pattern is so easy, quick and fun that you'll want to make one (or several) for all the young ones in your life.



Knitting needle:  4.50 mm / US 7 or size to obtain tension
Yarn:  This is a great way to use up odd and ends of yarn

Gauge:  5 stitches x 8 rows = one inch worked over Stockinette stitch

Stockinette stitch (over an even number of stitches)
Row 1:  knit
Row 2:  purl
Repeat rows 1 and 2 

seed stitch (over an odd number of stitches)
knit 1, purl 1--continue to end of row

Body  
Cast on 10 stitches
Work in Stockinette stitch for two inches (5.08 cm)
Using a darning needle, draw yarn through stitches and secure
Embroider eyes, nose and mouth to form face
Sew seam

Ears (make two)
Cast on 5 stitches
Work in seed stitch for one inch (2.54 cm)
Knit 2 together, knit one, knit 2 together
Using a darning needle, draw yarn through remaining stitch.
Attach ears.
